Mice.... and even more mice

Sat Nov 10, 2012, 5:04 AM

Oh the joys of living with a cat.

I am used to finding mice in front of my door and in my garden... brought to me by my cat Hektor.

It is rather new though that he brings them inside.... which would also be no problem if they actually were.... dead. They are not however. So imagine all the fun he is having with them - inmidst my living room! Imagine me throwing away their dead bodies, often with missing body parts... Imagine me wiping away their blood and collectiong mouse-pieces.... imagine me doing this at 2am or right when I came home from work.... No fun, I tell you.... but I can loive with that.... because I love hektor and his gifts are the ultimate expression of his love for me. Yes, I understand that.

Last night however... he went a step to far.... guess where he threw a living mouse at.... he brought it into my bed! Can you imagine, Mavrosh squeeking like a pig, jumping out of her bed while the poor little creature tried to rescue itself under my blanket...

To make a long story short - Hektor lost his interest into the mouse after a while which caused that it dissappeared somewhere in my apartment, I could not sleep bevcause of that but also I could not find the cute beast. I even called a friend, we searched for it together and after we saw a dead mouse right in front of my window, we thought, there you go, this is it.

But this was not it. The little thing inside my apartment was caught today, as it tried to steal some cat food. I knew my cat was outside so hearing this noise of an eating animal told me - intruder alert!

So yeah.... mice.... and as a result - two sleepless people, two dead mice and a cat who does not understand that his precious gifts do not belong underneath my blanket while I wish to sleep. While last night I was not amused at all, I now laugh out loud when I think about this!

:D Mav! I am so bad at keeping up on dA, I'm glad everything worked out with you and Hektor ^_^ My cats bring in pigeons, magpies, and once even a crow. Its the squirrels that cause the most trouble though... thats the nature of cats I guess!

Ah....of mice, women and cats. I used to have a cat that'd do that. Only the mice wound up feeding the pet snake I rescued from my kid brother! for Mavrosh & friend! Scritchies for Hektor...

The mother of my ex-boyfriend also had a story.. Her cat had caught a mouse, and brought it into the house, keeping it in her mouth and going to Mutti. She cried, and said ' take it away!" The cat thought that she had made something wrong, she was a bit scared and confused, so in that moment she threw the mouse to the floor and ran away. Mutti (even I called her that) had to catch it and throw it out. And she was afraid of mice. :D So yes. Cats and their generous presents:D:D

I'm glad, that now you can laugh at your evening:) It is a funny story if you are not half-sleep. :) for You and for your Hector! =)

We used to get a cat because we had mice in the basement area and we couldn´t rid of them, later few of our cats did the same thing who were adopted from the streets.

I can´t count on my hands how many times we tried to rescue their still living prey (usually when it was birds) as we felt sorry for the poor prey. Since we rescued their gifts they stopped doing that. I still can´t forget the bird legs I found under my bed, that made me feel a bit odd =P

WOW! He's a really awesome mouser. My cats can't catch anything. They wouldn't know what to do if they DID catch a mouse. But, I wouldn't like having to share my bed with a living little mouse. Poor thing, talk about a fright for both of you!

I'm glad you have so much patience. Hektor couldn't have picked a better person. I just hope things work out for you and him so you are both happy and healthy. *hugs* I hope the allergy problems aren't too bad.

He also must really love you. XD

Hahaha :P
My cat never does that. He eats them. Birds and mice alike, we find only bloodstains and/or feathers... but he doesn't eat magpies, so they're left lying around.

Oh! I wish you the best for this. I know he's being a dear trying to share things but perhaps he should leave them outside? He does sound like a sweet guy though.

All I gotta say is, better than birds. Nothing like a half dead sparrow staring at you, and the cat going, wait! It moved! *crunch* See mom, fresh! I can handle the butterfly killing, but the birds, ugh!

Hahahaha, sorry... But while I was reading this, i laughed a lot, cuz I indeed imagined you doing all this, girl =). I am glad my Sassy is not that way; Otherwise, my Mom, who arrives today from Spain, would kick her immeditely, cuz she doesn't like cats, and less mice x_X! (I didn't like cats before, either, but this one caught my love).
I am glad tho, that at least, you and your pet are happy. Kisses and hugs from Chile.

Look at the bright side - you will never be short of mice again! What a lovely way to show his affection - from cats point of view:)

cats are cute, but cruel, sometimes. Hektor is trying to provide you food, but of course he doesn't understand the limit of the human living style... (all the house is Hector's property, in his eyes). The positive side least he's keeping the house clean from a mice invasion. :D Hope you can sleep soon, i understand how you feel.

Hehehehe! But Hektor thought you would like a nice mousie to go to sleep with;
they're even better than stuffed animals, because the mouse is alive!

That is a great story, heehee. Brings back my own memories, as I grew up with a dozen cats (and many other animals). ^^

Great fun. My Sunnee has not brought in any mice this year. She is getting too old now. However she used to bring them in and play with them for a bit, then drop the creature at my feet. I would pat her on the head and say thank you and OK you can eat it now and she would munch some of it and leave the rest for me to flush away down the toilet. Be careful you don't get a mouse bite. My daughter like you and I is very allergic and was quite ill after being bitten. Make sure you have up to date anti tetanus... I was bitten and have up to date anti tetanus and had no reaction other than a sore finger. I don't do vaccines but do think anti tetanus is important... My father got lock jaw and was terribly ill... No idea what bit him...

It will be too cold for mouse hunting soon so you will get some peaceful nights...

Urgs!

Hahahaha...!
MadOldHag Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
Nee, das muss wirklich nicht unbedingt sein, genau so wenig wie Katzensch... auf der Treppe oder dem Teppich.
Mavrosh Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2012  Professional General Artist
Eben!
